Inception missions for DGIS-Philips partnership
22/dec/2009 – ETC and TriodosFacet have launched the activities in Kenya for the SESA partnership between Philips Lighting and DGIS. In the coming months, market entry strategies will be developed for Kenya, Mali, and Tanzania.

28/7/2009: A consortium of EASE member ETC Energy and Triodos Facet has been selected to manage the SESA partnership activities over the coming three years. The SESA partnership is a partnership between Philips Lighting and the Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation to promote Sustainable Energy Services for Africa.

Philips improved woodstove has been developed to give the poor access to clean cooking. Pumps International and Solar acknowledges the potential market for the Philips woodstoves as an interesting cooking alternative, due to rising fuel prices and because of the health benefits derived. To develop a market for the Philips woodstove Pumps International and Solar has bought 50 stoves for commercial testing in Dar Es Salaam region.

In July 2008, Philips and DGIS have entered into a partnership to promote lighting solutions for the poor in Africa. EASE is supporting test marketing in Tanzania (cookstoves) and Uganda (lighting).
